Finally! We are excited to announce that the Coastal Classic will remain as an Otford to Bundeena course, with a few changes as detailed below. We appreciate your patience as we have navigated the many layers of approvals required to make this course happen.
The start of the Coastal Classic will return to Otford Public School for 2023. From the traditional start line runners head up towards Otford Lookout and across Lady Wakehurst Drive to The Coast Track. Here runners will stay high on the ridge track and run to Garrawarra Farm.
From Garrawarra Farm runners will follow Garrawarra Farm Rd to Aid Station 1 located at the top of Garie Rd. After the aid station runners head up to and along Sir Bertram Stevens Drive for 1km, then turn right and down the Curra Moors Track. One lane of Sir Bertram Stevens Drive will be closed with traffic controllers managing vehicles on this section.
From Curra Moors Track runners head down the hill and return to The Coastal Track on the Curra Moors South trail. From here the course is the original Coastal Classic – following the spectacular coastline north to Bundeena via aid stations at Wattamolla, north of Marley and South Bundeena.
This race route keeps the Coastal Classic at 30km for 2023 and maintains the traditional point-to-point challenge that makes the event so popular. Maps, elevation and aid station information has all been updated on our website.
There are still entries available for anyone who has been waiting for us to release this news, and we’d love to see you on the start line in September!
